Friday Finds - Link Love

Happy Weekend & TGIF! This week was filled with a delicious birthday dinner at Meso Maya, lots and lots of work (seriously tired, which I think I say every Friday), & lots of loving on my fiancĂ© puppy while he's gone. How was yall's week and what do you have going on this weekend? I have a couple clients to see Saturday and then hope to lay by the pool with my man.

This week on the blog I shared my fall fashion favorites, a Loverly Wedding, Distressed Denim both under $150 & splurge worthy, and another fabulous KatyDid outfit post. Which post was your favorite?

Check out this DIY, personalized ice cream cone wrappers with seriously cute phrases like, "Get in my belly" & "Treat yo self." This would be so fun for a kids birthday or you know, a Tuesday.

This week I am obsessing over Hello Fashion's pale pink pencil skirt (Christine just had a baby, can you even believe it?), Penny Pincher Fashion's embellished denim, and Bishop & Holland's matching separates and metallic heels.

Closet organization can be a tricky thing. I personally color coordinate and that works for me. My current closet is somewhat small so I have to get pretty creative. Check these tips on organizing your closet from Camille Styles. Genius. This is definitely a must see before and after.

What I Want This Week

Distressed Denim

This fall season I am really looking forward to adding some distressed denim to my collection. I definitely know that investing in well made denim is worth the money, but lets be honest that isn't always in the budget. When I don't want to break the bank my go to denim stops are Gap, Free People, & Blank Denim. When I have the ability to splurge a little bit or want to invest in a great pair of jeans my go to brands are J Brand, Citizens of Humanity, & Rag & Bone.

If you haven't noticed fall fashion is hitting the stores - Nordstrom, Gap, ASOS, ShopBop, NastyGal etc. It is torture. In reality, here in Texas, we won't be able to wear our new fall garments for about 3 more months, but I really cannot resist pre-purchasing for the season. I especially am craving big comfy sweaters (BB Dakota, Vince, J.Crew), distressed denim (J Brand, Paige Denim, 7 For All Mankind, Rag & Bone), camel colored leather (Rebecca Minkoff, Madewell, Sam Edelman). What are y'all excited for this fall?

KatyDid Printed Romper

Chanel Sunglasses, Similar Gucci Gold Sunglasses
Michael Kors Watch, just received this Kate Spade Watch

Last week I styled my KatyDid Summer Cardigan and this week I am falling in love with another KatyDid print. This romper has quickly turned into my go to outfit - when in doubt I grab this bad boy. Romper's are so effortless and for most occasions they work. I wore this combination over to my mom's house on Friday to celebrate my 27th birthday with the family. I have also paired this romper with Steve Madden Heels for a slightly dressier look for date night. I especially love this Necessary Clothing Romper and this Shoshana Romper is classic.

A Loverly Wedding

I am so excited to team up with Lover.ly to share my beautiful styled wedding dress. Since this is so applicable to my life (see my recent engagement), I jumped at the opportunity to collaborate with Loverly. Lover.ly is a bride's digital best friend, taking the stress out of planning. Loverly combines everything from wedding planning & picking your vendors, to keeping track of the details, & shopping your favorite designer goods.

Since my real wedding is in Dallas and more modern, I decided to go opposite with my Loverly inspiration - a romantic beach getaway. A beach wedding affair screams flowing gown with exquisite details. The gown will capture the ocean breeze, move easily in the wind and the fabric will be light enough for the warm temperature. Since the gown had gorgeous details I tried to keep the accessories minimal, just with a touch of glitz. I also incorporated gold to bring in the natural sand tones. What does your dream wedding look like?

Summer Book List

Cartwheel by Jennifer Dubois - Heavily inspired by the Amanda Knox trials, Cartwheel takes you through a foreign exchange student's struggle with murder accusation, conviction and acquittal. The book bounces from several character's point-of-view, which keeps you guessing who is telling entire story. (I currently am about 85% through this one, it has me eager to dive into the real story).

Where'd You Go Bernadette by Maria Sample - The story of a mother daughter duo, nerdy genius Microsoft father, in the well-to-do bubble of Seattle. At first Bernadette seems a tad loony and hard to follow, but after a couple chapters you can not help but find yourself on her side. Follow along the Bernadette's neurotic tendencies, while her family works on bringing them back together (I wish Bernadette was in my real life some way, she definitely would spice things up).

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green - Follow Hazel along her long term battle with cancer, finding her own life beyond cancer, and new relationships. Although you may shed some tears, the book also makes you laugh and smile. The character's witty banter balances the seriousness of their illnesses (Can I read this again and again and again, I love you Augustus Waters).

Girls in White Dresses by Jennifer Close - A fun, sometimes sadly true, depiction of twenty somethings living in New York city and trying to figure out life and love. These girls can be described as a giant hot mess.  It was truly enjoyable to watch each character get their act together, there were moments where I even laughed out loud (The end of the book does leave room for interpretation, which is not everyone's cup of tea).

The Giver by Lois Lowry - This book is still on my 'to read' list, but the new movie trailers have me even more interested (Meryl Streep, duh). Hunger games/brave new world-esque, The Giver throws you into a world where war, disease and suffering is eradicated. (Who has read this bad boy, what do y'all think?)

Reconstructing Amelia by Kimberly McCreight - Another book on my 'to read' list, Reconstructing Amelia takes you on a whirl wind journey of a mother trying to figure out what actually happened to her daughter. I can't decide if this one is going to be a 'who done it' or tear jerker, yikes...maybe both?

American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis - If you are a fan of the movie (I love me some Christian Bale) you will love the book even more. Patrick Batemen lives a glamorous life working on Wall Street, while at night struggles with depths of madness.

Language of Flowers by Kate Greenaway - Victoria Jones grew up in the foster system, now as she turns 18 she is trying to find her way with little support. Victoria does find she has a talent for helping others in a specific way. Language of Flowers is still on my 'to read' list but is recommended by my mom and her book club (were both in book clubs, cute I know).

Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers - Read & recommended by my roommate, Kristen. Redeeming Love takes place in 1850 when some women must rely on selling themselves for a place to sleep. This is the ultimate love story, definitely a feel good ending.
