Friday Finds - Links I Love

Happy Friday, weekend, and Easter everyone. What does everyone have planned this holiday weekend? My family and I will be going to church and then heading over to our Mom's house for Easter brunch.

I absolutely love when the J.Crew catalog comes in the mail and we are all obsessed with Jenna Lyons so I was so excited to stumble across Who What Wear's J.Crew styling secrets. Thank God, now we can all achieve the perfect half tuck.

First it was the fishtail braid and now we are seeing tons of snake braids. If you want to achieve this look, check out Barefoot Blonde's Snake Braid Tutorial.

Since the temperatures has warmed up slightly the boyfriend has been a grilling machine. Last weekend we had a big cook out with friends, this week we made flank steak fajitas and simple barbecue chicken. I am not a huge fan of corn, but something about grilled corn really rings my bell. I am wanting to try this Mexican Grilled Corn recipe for sure.

What I Want This Week:

ShopBop Friends & Family Sale

Have you heard, ShopBop is having a sale. I am sure you have because just about every blogger is posting about it, but that is because when ShopBop has a sale you can finally get several items that have been sitting in your shopping cart. Don't fool yourself, we all know you do that. So in honor of 25% off full priced items with code INTHEFAMILY14 (I purchased some denim cutoffs I had my eye on) here are some items that I am coveting from the ShopBop sale.

Spring Shoe Trend: City Sandal

This Spring is full of new shoe trends - caged, the mule and now the city sandal. I do have to confess - I detest a kitten heel so I am not exactly sure how I feel about the city sandal, plus this girl needs all the height she can get. How do you guys feel about this trend?

Bloggers We Love: Amy Jackson

Name: Amy Jackson

Age: 30
City: Dallas
Day Job: Global Sourcing Manager for Women’s Apparel

How would you define your style?
Eclectic. During the work week I’m more contemporary with clean & modern silhouettes and always a touch of leather. But on the weekends I’m the “edgy” friend with mixes of boho styling.

What is currently inspiring your style?
Australian designers!!! There are so many great lines! Zimmermann, Sass & Bide, Cameo, Finders Keepers, & Keepsake to name a few

What is your favorite item in your closet?
Ugh – so hard. I recently got a ring from my boyfriend for our anniversary with the coordinates of our first date. That is one of the most special pieces I own. But from a fashion standpoint, I have 2 items. My {faux} leather pants from H&M. Best purchase, I wish I bought 2 more! And my black sequin blazer from Zara I scored for 75% off. I don’t wear it often but I will NEVER get rid of it.

What is the one thing you wish was in your closet?
Vintage Chanel

Shoes, bags, or jewels?
Shoes {heels}! Even though I’m 5’10 I always want a heel

What is your favorite place to shop?
Zara, Shopbop, ASOS, Nordstrom

What is your best style/fashion tip?
Choose items with great fit, but also great quality in fabric and construction. Being in the industry for my job, I know a lot about what goes into making a garment, so it’s always important to me to have quality pieces.

What was your inspiration for starting your blog?
It was honestly my job. I was so busy that I was losing sight of doing things that make ME happy. I had always wanted to be a stylist, but just never took the leap. Starting the blog is my way to style anyone and everyone who stops by my site. I love influencing people on making decisions and taking risks. Remember fashion should be fun!

What is the one thing you love most about the city you live in?
Texas Summers. I’m from California originally so any chance to soak up sun and I’m in my happy place. Luckily its HOT in Dallas for about 5 months and there are plenty of pool days! I really also enjoy what Dallas is becoming. There is so much to do and see, it’s becoming a great attraction for tourists and residents. I never get bored.

Where is the best place to brunch in your city?
Ah! Such a hard decision. Anywhere with a great mimosa deal and patio. Villa-O, Social House, La Duni, Boxwood…..

Beverage of choice?
Champagne J

Friday Finds - Link Love

Happy Weekend! These images scream summer - ah the thought of laying by the pool (I might attempt on Saturday if weather permits). This weekend I need to get a little work done, but other than that I have no plans. Sometimes you need a weekend with out plans and boy am I pumped. Hopefully we will be able to fit in a little grilling with friends on Saturday. What do you guys have planned?

If you follow my Instagram you will know that I am a huge brunch lover. Eater put together a Dallas  brunch heat map. My top favorite on the list - Smoke. Seriously you must try their blueberry ricotta pancakes. Yum. I do have to say they left some delicious places off the list like Cedar Social

My credit card has recently taken a hit from my online shopping habit. I blame the warm weather. This week I purchased this adorable Cameo Dress from Nasty Gal, 2 pairs of J.Crew shorts (neon citron, white, and I already have neon flamingo oops), striped Gap shortsRiver Island mirrored sunglasses and a J.Crew iPhone case. Side note: I asked the bf what he thought about it and he said, "It is very Casey." Me "What does that mean?" Boyfriend "It is neon and gold." Valid.

If you do not read Camille Styles you should start now. Not only is Camille great at all things entertaining and decor, but she is super cute. I pre-ordered her new book "Camille Styles Entertaining."

What I Want This Week

Easter has seriously snuck up on me. I cannot believe it is the weekend after next. Easter marks the true beginning of my Spring wardrobe, patio dining, grilling and white pants season. Time to clean out the closet and put away my winter coats. Dallas is finally warming up and the pool is calling my name, most likely a little premature.

In my mind there are some obvious go to Easter outfit options - classic white, florals ("Florals for Spring, how ground breaking") and pastels. Luckily you can find all of these at a variety of price points and styles.

Easter - Classic White

Easter - Florals

Easter - Pastels
